Large historical databases, although intended to last for a long time, can become obsolete variety of reasons. In this essay these reasons are explored and used 'health check' the Historical Sample Netherlands (HSN). The HSN leaders examined their visionary qualities sense ownership, database its complementarity, versatility consistency. concludes that, despite challenges ahead, is sound mind body.
